Adolescents

Does your teenager seem completely irrational? I’m a mother of adolescents, and I completely get it.

The neurological changes that occur during adolescence drive them towards emotional intensity, novelty seeking, increased social engagement, and creative exploration. This can also mean that our teens often find themselves in higher risk situations that can complicate their mental and emotional health. When we push against these drives, we set ourselves at odds with our teens. complicate their mental and emotional health.

We desperately want to keep our young people safe and yet we know there are higher and higher risks each year facing adolescents:

  • Teen social media is correlated with depression, anxiety, worsening self-esteem, and loneliness.

Navigating the challenges of today’s society while trying to form a sense of self has been intensified by the impact of the pandemic:

So how do you even begin to support your adolescent while also facing the challenges of our ever-changing world? This is where I can help. Not only am I a mother to adolescents, but I also have a degree in childhood development in addition to being a psychotherapist. All of these experiences, plus my specialized training in mindfulness for teens, helps me to support young people.

Your teen can heal, the adolescent brain is extremely resilient. I love working with teens. I help them to feel seen, learn new coping skills and to tap into their empowerment.

In addition to working one on one with adolescents, I support parents as well, and also work with whole family systems. You don’t have to figure this out alone
